ichael is a poet, screenplay writer, and an editor. He currently teaches creative writing in Houston, Texas. Previously, he taught for eighteen years in the Oxbridge Academic summer program at Cambridge University, England. 
   Michael holds an M.F.A. degree in English from the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa, and served as editor of The Iowa Review. He was  First Runner-Up in the PEN Southwest Discovery Prize competition in poetry.
   His early, short collection of poems, Homing Instincts, received the Sean Christopher Britton Award. His next book, American Sign, received the Antonio Machado Prize in poetry. His third book is forthcoming this Fall.
